Jesus said to his disciples:
“This is my commandment: love one another as I love you.
No one has greater love than this,
to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. – John 15.12 – 13
The “life” most of us “lay down” for others is more realistically a “part” of our life. In other words, we can let go of our need to be right, or in control, or our need to get our way in a particular instance, event or circumstance.
These are practical examples of how we lay down that which we cherish and that which is “ours” for another. We consider their needs, wants, preferences, situations and circumstances. Such considering is the motivation and expression of love.
