We are now two weeks into our Lenten Journey. The ashen mark upon our foreheads now washed clean, remains in our hearts as a symbol of our emptiness more beautiful than existence. Hungry, we can be fed. Empty, we can be filled. Barren, we can give birth. And what is feeding us and filling us and birthing in us but not the incarnation of love itself? Lord Jesus Christ, you are the Way and this wilderness journey is your ongoing undoing of our selfhood so to bring your unending being of Life and incomparable presence of Love. This is not a test. This is the unyielding power of spiritual eros birthing in us something new, groaning all the while. And our empty Lenten tummies growling are like music from a distant room reminding us there is a big symphony somewhere nearby ready to crescendo sheer delight…Resurrection light. Amen.
